LACQUER

Privacy Policy

Summary

LACQUER works on your Mac. We do not collect, store or sell personal data, there are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking.

Who is responsible

Elias Grootveld, the Netherlands, is the controller for the little personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].

What stays on your Mac

Your library list, analysis results, cover art, release lookups and settings are stored only on your Mac, inside the app’s own container. Deleting the app removes them.

Local network

When you stream to a network player or show a picture on a TV, LACQUER serves that track or picture to that device on your own local network, and only while you do so.

Online lookups (optional)

Only if you allow it, LACQUER sends the artist and album name of albums without artwork to MusicBrainz and downloads covers from the Cover Art Archive, and sends the MusicBrainz Disc ID of a ripped CD (a code made from its track lengths) to learn which release it is. Both are run by the MetaBrainz Foundation (United States), which receives your IP address with each request, as any website does; see metabrainz.org/privacy. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings › Library.

Purchases

Apple handles payment for LACQUER Pro. We receive no payment details and no information that identifies you, only Apple’s anonymous sales reports.

Crash reports and e-mail

If you agreed in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports. If you e-mail us, we use your message and address only to answer you (legitimate interest) and delete them when they are no longer needed, at the latest after two years.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted, object to its use, or withdraw consent. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your own country.
